Packaging
Preparation for market normally takes place from October to June.
Packaging is carried out in 4 stages:
1. Removal of tops
This operation is carried out in parallel on different topping machines, depending on the size of the onions.
2. Grading by size
We can handle 5 sizes:
- 35-50 mm
- 40-60 mm
- 50-70 mm
- 60-80 mm
- 70 and + mm
Or any other size, at the client's request, thanks to the high-performance grader.
3. Inspection
After grading and immediately before bagging, each onion order is checked, so as to manually remove any onions falling outside the norm.
4. Bagging
A high-precision multihead weigher indicates the exact weight.
Onions are placed into mesh bags of 500 gr, 1 kg, 2 kg, 5 kg, 10 kg, 15 kg, 20 kg and 25 kg.
In most cases, the bags are placed onto 1200 kg or 1250 kg pallets. The goods are normally shipped by truck.
